Would a list of the top 3000 be workable for an ‘Easy’ mode? Then they work on the next 500 most common words. In terms of workings with kids, the UK primary school curriculum includes learning the first 100 most common words. Junior players never spot these, as they aren’t thinking about the 2 letter words to pluralise.
